Malcolm Whittley

Malcolm Whittley is a retired Chartered Buildings Surveyor now living in Oxborough, West Norfolk. He was born in Kings Lynn in 1937. He studied for nine years with Eveline Sheldon at the Lynn Studio, where he passed all exams of the Royal Drawing Society with honours. He was also awarded their Erica Brooks prize with a painting that was toured with the Children’s Royal Academy.

Malcolm later studied under John Blockley and Moira Huntley. He trained in London as a buildings surveyor. His love of buildings and design helped him add building design to his skills. Throughout his professional career, Malcolm carried out many private commissions, however, since retiring he has packed away his rotor ink pen and got out his watercolours and acrylics.

He’s exhibited widely and has pictures in several countries. As a Norfolk man through and through, much of his inspiration comes from his home county. He is fascinated by the ancient, witch-like oaks found around the Brecklands, the shapes of fishing boats and the big Norfolk skies.
