Bridgette James SBA
Growing up in rural East Anglia, Bridgette James’ affection for the flowers and insects of the hedgerows led her to take up a career as a professional artist in 1987.
In April 1992 the Sultan of Oman commissioned Bridgette to paint a botanical and wildlife study for his new palace. This has led to over 40 more commissions for his majesty’s private collection in Oman. Bridgette was also commissioned to paint two large wall panels for the Sharjah Desert Park Natural History museum in the United Arab Emirates.
In 1995 Bridgette was commissioned to design a set of telephone cards featuring wild flowers of St. Ouen’ for Jersey Telecom. In 1993 Bridgette was elected to become a member of the Society of Botanical Artists. She has exhibited annually at the Society’s exhibition at the Westminster Gallery, London. She has also held solo exhibitions at the Alpine Gallery, London, The Wildlife Gallery, Lavenham, The Country Works Gallery, Montgomery, Wales and The Napier Gallery, St Helier, Jersey.
