Meg Foster

Meg loves abstract, focusing on form and colour with images drawn from her love of travel and photography, and the big watery skies of North Norfolk where “the light fills my imagination with paintings longing to be painted”.

Meg works in mixed media but during the last few years has begun experimenting with Encaustic Technique.  This is a very ancient form of painting with hot waxes - the first evidence in history is of the Fayum Portraits of Ancient Egypt but more recently revived by American contemporary artists such as Jasper Johns.

“I love the immediacy and vibrancy of encaustic and now combine this technique with the other media I use, such as acrylic, oils, soft pastels and oil pastels.”

Meg usually paints off a large heated palette mixing beeswax, damar resin, pigments and linseed oil using brushes and palette knives.
Meg has exhibited nationally including London and has sold internationally.  She has customers in the Corporate Market as well as private collectors.  Her customers include The Bank of England.

Meg now runs an art teaching, framing and business in Norfolk with her husband Charles. Meg’s work is on permanent display in the Pinkfoot gallery, along with a selection of her limited edition greetings cards. If you’d like to see more work by Meg, please look at our website or brochure.
