Dan Cole S.W.L.A   

After leaving Blackpool Art College  - Degree  course in 1988 and becoming a prize winner in a Readers Digest illustrator competition, he left for Brazil were he spent 3 months travelling on a bird watching and sketching trip.  On his return to the UK he decided to move to London were he worked in the field of commercial illustration. His clients included among many Nestle, White Mackay, Lloyds Master Control and Lloyds Bank.
    In 1992 He was commissioned by Chanticleer Fine Arts Prints to paint a series of 10 portraits of game fowl, these were produced as lithographs - each in a limited edition of 250.  Dan took some time out to visit India, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand for the express purpose of bird watching and studying and furthering his skills of drawing and painting. On his return to Britain he started work on plates for The field Guide to birds of the Indian sub continent   
    In 1996 he returned to Nepal to make more drawings and paintings in situ for 2 books Field Guide To South East Asia By C. Robson, New Holland, and Pheasant Grouse and Quail of the World,  Croom and Helm Publishers.
    In 1996 -98 -99 he had prize winning entries in an international bird illustration competition, and 2000 he won Bird Illustrator of the Year, and was also presented with the P J C Award for drawing.
    Since 2000 Dan has moved away from illustration and concentrated on painting for Galleries and private commissions. From 1995 onwards his paintings have been regularly shown at the annual exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries London.
