Michael Chapman

Michael was born in London and read medicine before entering Art College. For some time he was a teacher and lecturer in art, mainly in London and Essex. For several years Michael worked as an art critic for the Arts Review Magazine.

He has lived between Norfolk and London for the last thirty five years and has exhibited throughout the British Isles and France. He has had many one-man shows in London, East Anglia and Scotland. For years he has been involved in the restoration and conservation of paintings. Much of Michael’s work is in private collections in this country and other countries; USA, Norway, Switzerland, Middle East, China and Hong Kong.

For many years Michael ran his own gallery in Cley, now the Pinkfoot gallery. He has now decided to devote all his time to painting and is producing not only his renowned Norfolk landscapes in oil but a series of more interpretative paintings, drawing on the immense bank of visual resources he has acquired over the years. This exciting new work can be seen in the gallery along with Michael’s more traditional oil landscapes.

In our opinion, and many others, there is no other artist working in oil that can replicate the light and mood of the Norfolk sky. As a consequence, Michael is a tremendously popular artist whose work is in constant and regular demand.
